The Football League has confirmed that the draw for the Second Round of this season's Carling Cup will be made Live on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday programme at 1.30pm this coming Saturday, 26th August 2006.

As a result of the continued top flight status, Wigan are exempt from the First Round, which has seen plenty of giant-killing take place this week.

However, the remaining eleven Premiership clubs not participating in Europe this season (Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Reading, Sheffield United and Watford) will enter the competition at the Second Round stage.

The remaining eight sides involved in European competition (Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham United and West Ham United) are exempt until the Third Round.

The ties for the second round matches are scheduled to take place week commencing 18th September 2006.
