Camara out for six weeks

As a result of Camara's absence, the Latics will carry a much reduced goal threat. The Senegalese international is without doubt the major threat in the Wigan side, and he is going to be missing for the entire Christmas schedule.

The loss could be a big chance for Andreas Johansson who may well be given an opportunity to lead the line with Emile Heskey. Svetoslav Todorov, on loan from Portsmouth, has looked disinterested in his cameo appearances for the club.

Camara told the club's official website: "I'm hugely disappointed I'll be missing the Christmas period, not just on a personal level but because of contributing to the team.

"I picked up the injury 30 minutes into the game against Sheffield United but tried to battle on. At half time it became clear I couldn't continue and now I've found out it's trained ligaments.

"The most important thing now is to knuckle down with the recovery work and make sure I'm back early in the New Year. The medical team here are first class and look after us really well, so I will be taking on board everything they ask me to do.

"I don't like missing games so I'm keen to get back on the field with my team-mates as soon as possible.

"I've enjoyed the start to this season more than any other in my career. I feel settled, happy and I believe I'm playing well. Its been great playing up front with Emile [Heskey] and also Lee McCulloch."

As of yet, no date has been pencilled in for his return.
