Bruce pleased with pre-season

The team has performed so well during pre-season that the Latics boss has a big selection head-ache ahead of next weekends trip to West Hammersmith. He said: "We've had five or six weeks of intensive work and it was nice to round things off with a win over a decent Utrecht side.

"Our preparations are done now and I've one or two decisions to make in the coming days about who will play at West Ham. That is going to be a hard job because people have come into the team over the last few weeks and played very well. Daniel de Ridder has looked very good, for example, he scored another good goal yesterday and can deliver a great ball.

"I've got the majority of the side in my head now but will spend this week finalising it. Everything is positive, it's been a good pre-season and I've been pleased with what the lads have done. We have added to the squad over the summer and it's bigger and better than it was last season.

"I'm happy with what I've got although you can never say never in terms of whether we'll bring anyone else in. You don't know what might happen in training this week. If we got another injury we'd have to look at bringing someone else in."
