Ince, who has taken the MK Dons to the top of League Two is said to be the strong manager the club needs at the moment to shake up egotisitcal players like Paul Scharner and Jason Koumas.

However the former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder is happy in the round-a-bout village. He said: "I want to make a name for myself at MK Dons, I've been given a great chance by the chairman here.

"When I see the players playing the way they are, the spirit and the togetherness we've got at this club, the passion of the chairman and where we want to go with this club - why would you want to move?

"We're here for the long term, we've got a long-term plan and we want to take this club where we think it belongs. Winning games like at Bournemouth and the ones we've got in the coming weeks gives us half a chance of getting there."

Ince would also be the fans first choice to lead the club forward. Surely just the man that is needed to shake the club out of its current slump.

While Steve Bruce's job at Birmingham has been the subject of much specualtion with the impending takeover of the Brummies by Carson Yeung.

Birmingham today confirmed that the Latics have made an approach for Bruce who left the Latics under somewhat of a cloud to join Crystal Palace back when the Latics were in Division Two.

And finally, Joe Royle, once of Manchester City and Oldham Athletic is the final name to be stringly linked with the position. Royle is currently a free agent and has the depth of knowledge needed for a relegation battle.
