Rumours are still linking Paul Scharner with a move to Fulham but the London club have not met Bruce's valuation for the fans' favourite. Speaking about the prospect of further transfers, Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post: "Will there be more transfers?
"You can never say never. You have to carry a good size squad these days and that is why it was good to get Marlon here. When Emile Heskey was out injured earlier in the season, Chris Hutchings couldn't replace him.
"So at least we have a bit of strength in depth up front now. There is interest in some of our players. Things seemed to go berserk the other day with people ringing John Benson.
"We have had lots and lots of enquiries, a lot of clubs are putting in speculative bids half of the time. We have made a few enquiries too, so we'll see what happens between now and Thursday night.
"Fulham's offer for Scharner is not enough to even tempt us - they know what they have to do if they really want to buy him."
The squad is certainly looking a lot stronger now and supporters will be hoping that the club hang on to Paul Scharner after his impressive performances at centre back.
