Bruce: This club is immense
New Wigan Athletic manager, Steve Bruce, now believes that he can get The Latics out of the relegation zone and steer them to Premiership survival and make them a force along the way.

Bruce, ex-Manchester United defender, said that he was really excited to have started work at the JJB Stadium and that the potential within the club was 'absolutely immense'.

"I am looking forward to managing this club in the Premier League for many years to come. I think we can make an impact at this level and I would never have come back if I didn't believe entirely that this was a club that is going places."

"I have studied the strengths and weaknesses of the squad, and the ambition of the Chairman is there for all to see."

"I am an ambitious man myself, and I want to manage this club in the higher reaches of the Premier League. I see no reason why I can't be the one to really establish Wigan Athletic at this level for many years to come."

"The transformation of the club has been nothing short of extraordinary over the past few years, and I can see the development myself from the time I was here."

"This is a young club, a growing club and the future is really bright."

"It always takes a while for a new manager to come in and feel at home but I am lucky that there are some familiar faces here already."

Steve Bruce will start his reign as Wigan Athletic manager when they meet Manchester City at the JJB Stadium on Saturday.
