Bramble: Wigan are not a Selling Club

Last updated : 15 December 2008 By Michael Goodman

Titus Bramble has stated that Wigan are in a position not to sell players in the January transfer window and that buying players is more in the clubs interests. Bramble is in his second season at the JJB and is aware that with the team playing well, rumours are going to circulate surrounding the clubs in form players. Speaking to Wigan Today, Bramble insists that money is not a problem for Wigan:

"There's a lot of talk and speculation about our best players moving on in January, but I don't think that will happen," said Bramble.
"We've got an ambitious chairman who wants to move Wigan forward.
"We are a buying club, not a selling club.

"We don't need to sell our best players and I'm sure we can hold on to them.
"The manager, Steve Bruce, is building a great squad here, and this team is getting better all the time.

"All the boys have a great faith in what the gaffer is trying to achieve.
"He has turned the club around in the past year and worked wonders for the lads, and the way he has stamped his own identity on the club.

"Our attacking play against Blackburn was high class.
"And now it is up to us to keep this momentum moving forward and not to take the foot off the pedal between now and the end of May.
"We've nothing to fear if we keep this progress going."

The win over Blackburn made it four home games unbeaten with three wins out of the last four. With no game this coming weekend due to the Manchester United game being postponed, Newcastle United are the next opposition for Wigan on Boxing Day for the second season running followed by the local derby away at Bolton Wanderers.
