After joining from Newcastle in 2007, Bramble has impressed everyone connected with Wigan. Fans will be delighted to see that Bramble wants to extend his stay at the JJB and be a part of the exciting times which lay ahead under manager Steve Bruce, with European football very much an ambition for the next few seasons if that aim is not achieved this season.
Bramble has been a rock in defence this season, with many fans and team-mates suggesting that the former Ipswich Town player gain international recognition. This would be another boost for the club, especially after Emile Heskey kick-started his England career whilst playing in Wigan. On the topic of a new contract, Bramble told the Wigan Evening Post "I have the rest of this season and next season left on my contract.
"I think something will get sorted out soon, my agent is due to speak to the club in the next week or so about a new deal.
"I'd love to stay here, the fans have been great to me and I'm really settled.
"What is important is that I'm playing week in, week out - that is what every player wants and I'm no different.
"I've played 60 games for Wigan in the last two seasons which is great.
'They've given me a chance and I'm grateful for that.
"We've got a good squad and I'm sure the manager will make some good signings in the summer to strengthen us further."
