Bramble aiming high

Change does not happen overnight. That is what Titus Bramble certainly believes. After taking 6 points from the first 6 games, Wigan currently sit 15th in the table having played 5 teams who finished above the club last season. With big games against Hull City, Burnley, Portsmouth and Fulham coming up quick, the start is steady and to have 6 points is not a bad return given the tough start the club has.

If the club can pick up points in the games against clubs in and around the bottom half, survival should be achieved. Bramble thinks that the club is still in transition and that all the players have to adapt to the new, fluid style. After a season and a half under Steve Bruce whose style of play was quite direct, Bramble says hard work is the key to adapting.

"We are still adapting to the new manager, it's still a transitional period, but if we work hard I'm sure we'll improve," said Bramble .

"We just didn't get properly started and if that happens against a team like Arsenal, then you're going to get punished and that's what happened."

Chelsea are the visitors to the DW Stadium on Saturday and are flying at the moment under Carlo Ancelotti, winning all of their games. It is going to be an interesting game whatever happens.
