Boyce out for Sunderland game

Emmerson Boyce: Not fit
Manager Chris Hutchings said: "I wouldn't have thought Boycey will be ready by then. He hasn't been able to join in training yet."

It is expected that the same eleven will start against Sunderland that defeated Middlesbrough in midweek with Titus Bramble and Andreas Granqvist continuing at the heart of the defence.

The performances of Granqvist in particular have left many supporters wondering why previous manager Paul Jewell didn't give the defender a chance last season.

Meantime, Michael Brown returns from suspension and is in contention for a starting birth. However after the Middlesbrough game, it would be a tough call to drop anyone of the Wigan Athletic midfielders.

Manager Hutchings continued: "Michael being back gives me more food for thought and it's always good to have players coming back into the squad. As a manager, you want selection headaches like this, and the more options you have the better it is for the team.

"It was good for us to get off the mark against Middlesbrough, but we've moved on quickly from that to focus on tomorrow's game. Sunderland is another big game for us and, like I said before we played Middlesbrough, it's important we win our home matches."
