It is rumoured that there is a full time swap arrangement already in place should both clubs be happy with the respective players.
Gareth Southgate said: "He's on loan, but he's got the opportunity that if he does well for us he can be here next year and either way he's in the shop window as well.
"He's desperate to prove a point. While he's here he wants to do as well as he can for us and show people that he can play at this level."
