Blake joins Birmingham

The deal has cost Birmingham 1.5 million and he has signed a year contract.

Wigan had four bids turned down and Jewell confirmed that he had matched City's offer but Burnley just didn't want to sell to Wigan.

In all fairness however, you cannot blame Blake for wanting the Premiership move and we wish him every success in the top flight.

Gareth Farrelly
Meanwhile, former Latic Gareth Farrelly, 29, who is the Bohemians manager in the eirecom league has been tipped for success for the forthcoming season.

Farrelly was appointed manager in August and will have a key role in their midfield for the forthcoming season which begins in August.

The Gypsies captain, Kevin Hunt said: "Gareth came in last year and had his hands full managing. He wasn’t fully fit either, but with a good pre-season under his belt he’ll be 100 per cent and be able to concentrate more on playing.

"He is a great player – you can see that from training."
