Blackburn don't want Roberts

Jason Roberts
After struggling in the top flight previously, Roberts has had by far his best season in football.

He managed to score fourteen goals, proving that he can hack the Premiership.

He now wants an improved contract of which Wigan Athletic will not play ball, and the Grenadan striker is seeking a move away.

However it seems that his agent, Willy McKay is having trouble finding a suitor for £30,000 a week Jason. The latest club to distance themselves from a move for the moody forward is Blackburn Rovers.

Chairman John Williams has said: "We've not had any contact with Wigan Athletic regarding Jason Roberts."

It now seems increasingly certain that Jason Roberts will join Besiktas in Turkey where Jean Tigana is in charge.

Tigana made a name for himself as Fulham manager where he adopted a total football style, taking the Championship by storm. While there is no doubt that Roberts himself would fit into a slick passing side like a duck to concrete.

Personally, unless the bid for Roberts is over £2 million, I would let him spend next season in the reserves before releasing him to the mediocrity of a contract worse than the one offered this summer by the Latics.
