Baines for England

Leighton Baines
The 21 year old has been in amazing form for Wigan at left back so far this term, and Eriksson has confirmed that he has space for a few new faces in his 23 man squad, including a full back.

Eriksson said: "I could pick the squad now, at least 20 of them, then I have to start thinking harder.

"Maybe I'm just looking for a fourth striker, perhaps one full-back and the third goalkeeper.

"You always hope some new player will come on, although with just six months to go that is not very likely."

Ashley Cole of Arsenal will be the first choice full back bar injury, but second choice Wayne Bridge of Chelsea has yet to prove his fitness and is lacking in first team football.

Baines on the other hand has been impressive for the England Under 21's and has been an every present for the Latics in the league this term, putting in some outstanding performances.

Eriksson would be unwise to overlook Baines ahead of Germany this summer.
