Zoltan Gera has already expressed his desire to rejoin the Premiership elite, while Davies and Ellington are understood to feel the same way.

However, Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace told wba.co.uk: "They are not for sale. We have made it clear since the day we knew which division we will be playing in next season that it is our intention to strengthen the squad - not take it apart."

One move that does seem to be going ahead is the £3 million transfer of Crystal Palace defender Fitz Hall.

He is set for talks at the JJB when he returns from holiday. Manager Paul Jewell has been a long-term fan of Halls ability and tried to sign the centre back whilst he was an Oldham player.
