"Julius is a lovely guy and he tried his best to adjust to life in the Premier League. I never found fault with his attitude or effort in training or when selected," manager Steve Bruce told the official Wigan website.
"However, he never really managed to get started while I've been at the club and I think it's best for both parties that he moves on.
"I wish him all the best and I hope he enjoys success with his new club."
