According to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Wolves have covered 2,353 miles this season and trail Newcastle, who are currently fourth, by just three miles.

Wolves came up against Everton last weekend, which saw Stephen Hunt clock up the most individual miles of any player on the pitch against Everton. Hunt paced his way to an admirable 7.17 miles.

Karl Henry had been Wolves marathon man in their previous three fixtures before coming up against Everton, he could only manage 6.94 miles according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

Matt Jarvis has continued to impress for struggling Wolves. The winger has crossed 117 times this season, with only Manchester United’s Nani having crossed more times.

Ahead of him, Kevin Doyle is inside the top 20 for assists this season. The Irishman has created 8 goals for Terry Connor’s men. Matt Jarvis could equal Doyle’s total with an assist against Wigan.

However, Doyle and Jarvis will be up against a centre back in fine form. Antolin Alcaraz was the forth best performer in the Premier League last weekend, according to EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. The Paraguayan put in a solid performance in the heart of Wigan’s defence, before popping up in the final moments to score the winner that secured the Latics’s safety and relegated local rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Alongside him, Gary Caldwell continues to add some British grit to Martinez’s team, currently ranking 31st in EA SPORTS Player Performance Index for the season. The Scot has made the most blocks of any player in the Premier League, and has made the 10th most interceptions - indicating how vital he is to Wigan.

Martinez’s insistence on passing football is reflected in the fact that both James McCarthy and Victor Moses are in the top 40 passers in the Premier League – having made 650 and 608 passes, respectively.

Moses is the third best dribbler in the Premier League this season, having completed 102 dribbles – only Gareth Bale and Scott Sinclair have completed more.
