Preview: Wigan to earn their Spurs?

Chimbonda claims in an interview that he is looking forward to Sundays encounter. If i was him however, i would try to avoid Lee McCulloch among other players, who were rumoured to have been more angry than anyone after Chimbos letter at Highbury.
More of this on Chimbonda please?

The French right-back, ironically dropped from the French squad after leaving the Latics, should pray that Jewell doesn't bring Emile Heskey back, who is winning his fitness battle to play this Sunday, as that could see McCulloch moved to left midfield, where Chimbonda would come face to face with the powerful Scottish International.

Despite the grudge us Wigan fans still hold against Chimbonda (as well as the hope that McCulloch bruises him up abit) Wigan manager Paul Jewell believes the past is "water under the bridge" but that Pascal was ill advised by his agent, the in-famous Willie Mackay.

Jewell said:"I can understand why he went because any player or manager would be interested in playing for, or managing, one of the top four or five clubs in this country. You can't kid yourself.

But when a player doesn't want to play for you anymore - I don't care who he is - he has to go, as long as the club are well looked after.

"I have to look at the bigger picture and, that is, he was outstanding for us in an outstanding season."

Heskey: Winning fitness race to play this Sunday
Tottenham will hope that Chimbonda recovers from a knee injury to help them record their fourth consecutive home victory, which in that time has seen them beat Champions Chelsea 2-1.

Spurs appear to have been distracted by their UEFA Cup exploits, as they have not started the season well. The Londoners currently sit 13th on 16 points, two points behind the Latics who site ninth prior to the Premiership's Saturday games.

As well as Wigan aimingfor their third consecutive away victory, they are also aiming to continue their five game unbeaten run, which has dragged Wigan away from the relegation zones.

The odds of Wigan winning will hopefuly be imporved with the return of Emile Heskey, who has missed the last two games due to injury. lee McCulloch has proved an able replacement, scoring two goals in three games since replacing the former England striker up front.

If he does not recover, he will join Fitz Hall, Gary Teale, (who picked up a knee nijury in the draw with Aston Villa) and Leighton Baines who is sidelined for up to three weeks. It is expected Jewell will stick with the same starting eleven who drew with Villa.

Ones To Watch

As much as it pains me to say, Chimbonda down the right wing, with no Baines, will be a major threat. And with Aaron Lennon in front of him, David Wright (if he continues) will have to have the game of his life. Robbie Keane and Berbatov up front are both dangers, as is the livewire Jermain Defoe.

Pundits Preditions

Mark Lawrenson returns to backing against Wigan, going for a Spurs 2-1 victoryy. Sky Sports have gone for the sme result, but in Wigan's favour, believing Wigan's fresh legs will prove to be too much for Spurs.

My Prediction

Last week was a breakthrough for me, i got the result correct but the score wrong! This week, i believe that Spurs European exploits will show, and Wigan can run out narrow winners.

Spurs 0 Latics 1 (Chimbonda og)
