Preview: Road to Wembley starts here

Wigan have not looked at the FA Cup with fond memories for decades, not
The Famous FA Cup
since our non-league days when we were seen as the giant killers did we look forward to playing in the FA Cup.

That is due to our failure to make it past the third round of the famous cup. And despite the added incentive of boosting morale and the final held at New Wembley for the first time, with our injuries that recent tradition looks unlikely to change.

New signngs (three at time of writing) are expected to play their part on Saturday, with Scandinavian pair Andreas Granqvist and Kristofer Haestad possibly starting.

Latest recruit David Unsworth, who signed earlier today on a short-term deal similar to David Thompson last year, will not feature in the FA Cup tomorrow, according to manager Paul Jewell.

Emile Heskey is expected to shoulder most of the attacking burden, but Wign are boosted (greatly) by the return of Lee McCulloch.

Paul Scharner and Henri Camara are certain to miss out, and Australian midfielder Josip Skoko is too risky and will probably make the bench at best.

Portsmouth are expected to rest some of their big hitters, with Kanu and Sol Campbell some of the players expected to miss out. Former Wigan midfielder David Thompson could start against his former club.

Todorov has returned to Portsmouth after his loan at Wigan, but is expected to miss out with (Surprise Surprise!) a knee injury.

Ones To Watch

Watch out for Matthew Taylor at range! Kanu is expected to be rested so the experienced Andy Cole will be one to watch.

My Prediction

Cannot see a victory away at Portsmouth, what difficult place to go! But what is the oen thing Latics fans would rather not have......

Pompey 1 Latics 1 (yes a replay, the last thing we want)
