Preview: Heroes or Villains

And must win it is. Two defeats over the easter weekend would be physically and mentally draining on Jewell, the team and the fans. Although a defeat won't drop the Latics into the relegation zones (Sheffield United, currently 18th, aren't playing) it could be a crushing blow.

A victory, however, would make things look a lot less gloomy. Three points
Hero or Villain? Jewell has a job on his hands
on Monday could lift Wigan one place and increase the gap on Sheffield United to five points.

It is a tough trip to Villa on Monday. Although the Villains have won just three times since their last meeting in the league, O'Neil's men are virtually safe after a surprise win over Blackburn on Saturday.

And Jewell knows it is still in his teams hand: "It all depends how other results turn out, but with six games to go, it is still in our hands.

Nobody thought West Ham would win at Arsenal and there will be more twists. But we cannot feel sorry for ourselves, we have to dust ourselves down for Aston Villa."

Jewell also confirmed Arjan De Zeeuw missed out with a back injury, and so is probable to miss Mondays important encounter. Emile Heskey, although only just recovered from ilness in time for Saturdays game, is expected to continue up front.

No reason was given for Denny Landzaats drop, whilst Agahowa could be called on after Henri Camaras shocking thirty minute outing.

Ones to Watch

Agbonlahor has been a surprise star in a poo season for the Villains. Luckily Carew is expected to miss out.

Pundit Prediction

Sky Sports has gone for 2-0 Villa. Nothing from Mark Lawrenson thankfully.

My Prediction

A good performance and an important away point.

Villains 1 Latics 1
