Hull City Preview: Brown debut

The club have named the same starting line-up for the past two games, and only one change for the match pre-ceeding that. In terms of minutes on the pitch, a few of the players are due a rest.

It comes as no surpirse then that an understrength Wigan team is likely to take the field against Hull City in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

Super Skipper Mario: Likely to be rested
The change that will grab the headlines is the likely debut of Michael Brown in midfield with Denny Landzaat likely to make way. Landzaat was called up to the Dutch squad for their fixture with Switzerland in mid-week and so the air miles will have also taken a toll on his body.

Antoine Sibierski will also be missing after he came off against West Ham with a tight thigh muscle, the same injury that kept him out of the opening day fixture with Everton.

Hutchings commented: "Sibierski felt his hamstring tighten up and we got him off quickly before it got too bad. We didn't want him playing on and pulling the muscle, which would have meant him being out for two months or whatever.

"It was important we dealt with it swiftly, and the medical staff will assess his condition in the coming days. Hopefully we won't be without him for too long because he's an important player for us."

There could also be a sneaky display from forgotten man Henri Camara. The Senegalese striker is unlikely to start the match, but could well be on the bench. Both Caleb Folan and Julius Aghahowa are likely to start up front with Emile Heskey given a much deserved rest.

Emmerson Boyce may be given the chance to get some minutes under his belt, but the game is too early for Ryan Taylor. Fitz Hall is likely to start the game allowing one of Titus Bramble, Andreas Granqvist or skipper Mario Melchiot a rest.

Despite ringing the changes, Hutchings fully expects to win the game. He told the club's official website: "If you're in it you want to win it, it's as simple as that. We will take Hull very seriously and respect the fact that they want to dump us out of the cup.

"I think we'll probably change the side a little bit, I don't know how much at this moment in time, but it was very hot and three games in a week again with the international duty, it might be time to rest one or two.

"We've got some hungry pros though at this club, and whoever goes out there, I expect them to win the game."

Supporters can pay at the gate with tickets priced at £15, with concessions £10, and under 16's just £1.

Wigan Athletic (Likely): Pollitt, Boyce, Kilbane, Hall, Bramble, Cotterill, Scharner, Skoko, Brown, Folan, Aghahowa.
