Opinion: Bottom by Christmas?

Last updated : 22 October 2007 By Greg Farrimond

It may sound very pessimistic but we need to start banging some goals in otherwise being bottom is a real possibility. In my eyes there are 4 games between now and Christmas which I am writing off already.

They are Chelsea and City at home and Arsenal and Spurs away. I honestly can't see us getting anything from these games and the others aren't much easier. Some may argue that the games against Spurs and City aren't complete right offs.

Honestly, I think they are. We couldn't score in a brothel at the moment and they will both do enough to keep us out and both have enough attacking options to stick at least one past us.

The likes of Bolton away, who by that time, will be under their new manager, possibly a certain Mr Jewell, going there and getting some points will prove extremely difficult.

Blackburn at home will also prove very hard with the Latics only managing 1 point in their previous 4 games with the Ewood Park outfit. I think 4 points out of these 2 games would be fantastic and will separate us from being right in the sh*t to being only just in it.

If I am forced to predict, I would say we will get around 7 points between now and Christmas leaving us on a total of 15 which may just keep us off the bottom but put is in a much worse situation than Christmas last year where we had notched up 22.

January will be a massive month for hutch. The right players must be signed. He needs some ultra strong financial backing from Mr Whelan for once. he Wigan public who refuse to support their team. Certain players haven't performed this year and certain others don't even look interested.

We're in deep trouble and things must changed. Whether it be the board room, the management, the players or all 3, at least 2 MUST be altered for us to stand any chance of staying and establishing ourselves in the Premierl league.

We need another miracle.
