Opinion: You don't get relegated in November

BUT regardless of the result on Saturday against Blackburn Rovers you don't get relegated in November.

This is a message to all the supporters who feel it necessary to abuse rather than support, a message to those who feel we have already gone down, to those who aren't SUPPORTING the team.

Our manager Roberto Martinez cares deeply for our football club, so much so he rejected Aston Villa's overtures this summer to remain in charge.

Under the stewardship of Martinez we have started to build a football club.

The budget's have been reassessed and wages brought down from 90-odd percent of turnover.

The average age of the playing staff has been brought down as we look to build a team for the future.

Our youth team and reserve team are now much more than making up the numbers, we have players coming through the ranks.

We're playing football, good football, and the results will come. We're creating chances and lady luck isn't on our side.

In summary, my message to genuine Wigan Athletic supporters this weekend, is to do what we should. SUPPORT our football team, SUPPORT our manager, and SUPPORT our club.

We won't be relegated in November. Wigan Athletic is a club built on resolve, team spirit, and togetherness through adversity.

It is all to easy to turn negative when things aren't going our way but now is the time to SUPPORT.

Blackburn Rovers this weekend is the time for all supporters of Wigan Athletic to pull together and be the 12th man. Our team needs us!
