Opinion: Time for Revenge

If only to shut up those irritating arm chair United fans who we all have to put up with at work, football or maybe even at home.

To silence those who preach that Ferguson's current crop are going to conquor football as we know it.

To prove that watching Wigan Athletic at the JJB is better than being a plastic Manc hanging on to an Old Trafford allegiance purely based on supporting a successful team.

Steve Bruce has further transformed the magnificent story of Wigan Athletic. A club that induces a strong passion and love amoungst those who follow her closely.

We may not be big in number but our support is second to none and our players have proved for the second half of this season that we are a force not to be messed with.

And it is at this point that the reason for victory over United is desired.

Flash back twelve months and Paul Jewell was going slightly insane as the Latics needed three points to guarantee safety at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.

The Blades themselves would have been safe had Ferguson's side defeated the Hamemers at Old Trafford. However, with the title already in the bag, United rolled over and were defeated by Carlos Tevez and co. which kicked off the summer of court battles that still rangles on today.

Wouldn't it be sweet to return the compliment next Sunday and strip the Red half of London, erm I mean Manchester of the title by taking at least a point.

With the current form of the Wigan squad anything is possible. I just hope that Steve Bruce understands the importance of this victory to the Latics and does not do his former boss a favour.

You are your own manager Steve and the time has come to prove that for all our years of ridicule, Little Wigan can stick two fingers up to those glory hunting United fans and screw up their season.
