Opinion: Mido… return to sender

After a string of unimpressive performances that have been dominated by a lazy attitude, overweight body and sluggish mind, Mido must be removed from the Wigan first team.

It is clear to see now why the Egyptian striker has had so many clubs during his career, despite being only twenty five year of age.

There have been times where Mido has looked every bit the world beater, but none of those have come during the last two years and there has certainly been no glimmer of hope during his short spell with the Latics.

It was with bemusement that supporters watched Amr Zaki withdrawn against West Ham United. Despite a below par performance from the Zak, he was at the very minimum prepared to harry, hassle and work hard for the team.

Mido on the other hand offered as little in terms of a goal threat as Zaki, but was not interested in defending or even attempting to worry the West Ham defence.

It was becoming frustrating watching Mido protest at everyone other than himself for his pathetic attempts to win the ball. His outlandish displays of frustration aimed at both the referee and also his teams mates were without merit.

The blame for his lack of desire and ability to compete are more related to his inflated waistline and ego than anything else.

It was laughable in the final twenty minutes how poor the Wigan team were going forward, and the slight of build Hugo Rodallega was the main aerial threat.

Rodallega must start at the weekend against Sunderland, as his craft and spark are much needed going forward. The Latics have now scored two goals in eight games.

He must be partnered by Zaki who is so heavily marked by defenders, he is always going to find it difficult to score a goal. It is this over-Zaki focus from opposition teams that will allow Rodallega the space to net for the Latics.

Failing that Antoine Sibierski is back from Norwich City and is certainly a player with an eye for goal, particularly as a second half substitute.

Going one step further, Henri Camara knows how to score a goal but he is helping Stoke survive in the Premiership. What a mistake that could prove to be.

Even further than that, come back Marlon King, all is forgiven.

As for Mido, he wouldn't get near the first team again if it was upto me, what a mistake it was in bringing him to the club.

Despite his pathetic performances thus far, I dare say that Mido will start against Sunderland and continue to be an embarrassment to both himself and Wigan Athletic Football Club.
