Opinion: It's back

The harshness of that night at Loftus Road in the playoffs last season is now firmly behind us, the batteries have been charged, and the players are ready to go. We are ready to kick off in one of the greatest divisions in world football, the Championship.

Once again we will battle hard to chase the hallowed glory of a place in the Premier League and with Uwe Rosler at the helm for a full season morale couldn't be higher amongst supporters.

Thankfully the club continue to be well run and we've been sensible in our approach to transfers. We've no £11m star striker, and our wages are on budget, we're a well run club and that is important.

We've learned where Coyle wasted. Grant Holt is relegated to the Weight Watchers Hindley meeting and Marc Antoine Fortune has a ringing in his ear from Rosler's motivational shouts.

Where once there were overpaid primadonnas, Rosler has brought in a blend of youth, hunger, and experience, at the right price, to give us the best chance of promotion.

The Rosler effect last term was emphatic. He took largely the same flailing squad that Coyle had bumbling along in mid-table and transformed the fortunes and desires to lead a charge on promotion.

Had it not been for Burnley and Leicester showing some serious form for the duration of the season there was a hope we could have made the top two and an automatic spot.

Fast forward to the present and Rosler's steel, determination, and desire is the main reason for optimism.

It is a joy to behold such a good standard of football at the DW Stadium and see the Latics continue to punch above their weight.

The summer absence of the Latics has been far too long and the visit of Reading to kick off the new season is eagerly anticipated.

We've got a great club, manager, and team, so let's harness all our excitement, remain positive for the full 90 minutes, and hopefully cheer on the lads to an opening day victory.
