It was embarrasing to see such an empty stadium and Roberto didn't deserve that on his big homecoming, he must have thought we were still at Springfield Park. I appreciate that in the current financial situation a lot of people have lost their jobs and can no longer afford to come and other people probably had to work but those few apart what happened to the rest?
All these excuses like "Whelan has lied to us, I find it hard to get to away matches, I'm not going cos we've sold players, It's only Wolves, the club's marketing is c**p" etc etc What a load of tosh!
We've probably all used excuses when defending our attendances to fans of other clubs but its time that stopped and we should just admit our crowds are awful. A lot of the time I don't agree with Whelan but after that crowd last night I couldn't blame him if he turned around and sold all our players and said screw Wigan why do I bother if nobody is going to come and watch us.
When he asked does Wigan deserve a football club the answer is NO! I know big crowds don't win you anything but surely when the players ran out last night and saw the pitiful attendance they must have been deflated before they had even kicked off.
To be honest though I think it reflects the attitude of Wigan people as a whole because not only are our crowds shocking so are the eggchasers. The majority of the people of Wigan are tight miserable, moaning, negative gits who can't be bothered to get off their fat a***s to come down to the ground.
How do we change that? How about a big 50ft poster of Whelan in the middle of Wigan pointing towards people with a sign saying "call yourself a Wiganer? - Prove it! Get down to the DW and cheer the boys on!"
