I do feel that they could have perhaps checked out what was being offered and let fans know, but I guess they made the same assumptions the fans did.
Head of communications and media, Matt McCann said: "We were asked by Carling to provide a recognised group affiliated with the club. We chose the away season ticket holders and passed on a list of names so a draw could be carried out.
"Carling then picked the winners and provided the prize. Wigan Athletic have not decided to give you £36 seats - Carling have!"
Unfortunately it is too late for fans to change their seats for better ones, and the "prize" seats cannot be exhanged.
However, I will certainly be taking advantage of this hospitality, and should free booze be provided I will ensure that as much as possible is sent down the toilet where Carling belongs.
