1) Who are you; where are you from and how long have you supported your club?
My name's Ian Hamilton, I'm from a small village near Sunderland, and I've been a Sunderland supporter for all my life (22 years).

2) What was your first game?
Not counting the odd reserve games, my first "proper" match was against Manchester City at the SOL in August 1997, although I'd been following the Lads for years before that.

3) Describe the most memorable and worst game you've seen and why?
Most Memorable: the 1998 play-off final stands out like a sore thumb. That game had it all - goals, excitement, tension, drama... I just wish it'd ended differently.

Worst: take your pick out of anything from the second half of the 2002/3 season. If you want something more recent, then our pre-season game in Vancouver was desperate, particularly the defending...

Thierry Henry - Simply the best
4) If the Mackems were a Celebrity, who would they be and why?
Not sure but someone who takes huge pride in something we've done in the past, but we haven't exactly followed up on it since then.

5) Who do you consider as your current local rivals, and why?
Newcastle - surely you don't need an explanation.

6) Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
Best player: That's a tough one - I'll go with Thierry Henry, back when we were absolutely rotten.

Worst: Gareth Hall and Jeff Whitley (both Sunderland players) tie there

7) Which current or former Latics player impressed you most?
Nathan Ellington always seemed to have a good record of scoring, but you sold him...

8) What do you think of The Latics?
As a football club, they're always going to be the number-two sport in Wigan, but they're doing pretty well for themselves. Their fan-base last season was disappointing, but hopefully they can boost their crowd when the big boys come calling.

9) How did you fare last season?
Let's see: we won the league, we played some great football, and we did it without breaking the bank. How things have changed...

10) How do you expect to fair this season?
Anything above relegation will be a bonus, especially after our start.

11) Can you stay up?
Of course we can, but we need to tighten up all over the park if we're going to give ourselves a chance.

12) Tommy Miller - will he be a success in the Premiership?
Yes, as long as he's not being played out of position, which is a worrying trend we've developed (Stephen Elliott on the right wing against Manchester City was an example of that).

Mick McCarthy - Barking mad?
13) Which Sunderland players should we watch out for?

Julio Arca's probably our only Premiership quality player in the squad, but elsewhere we've got Anthony Le Tallec on loan from Liverpool who's promising, while Dean Whitehead has yet to have a bad game for us in the Premiership.

14) Is your manager barking mad?
Naah - he's calm when he needs to be.

15) Are you happy with your Chairman/Backroom staff?
Yes. They have their hands tied financially, thanks to previous managerial regimes, and there's not much more that they can do to bring in new players.

16) Which team do you want to beat the most this season and why?
Newcastle. For the really obvious reasons.

17) What sort of line-up can we expect from you?
We've not got a settled XI yet this season, but I'd imagine we'll play some sort of 4-3-1-2/4-4-2 diamond formation on Saturday, with Kelvin Davis in goal, a back four of Nosworthy, Arca, Stubbs and Breen, then Miller, Whitehead, Welsh and Le Tallec in midfield, with Gray and Elliott or Stead up front.

18) Predicted score and scorers?
2-1 to Sunderland: Le Tallec and Miller for us; God knows who for Wigan.

19) Who'll win the league?
Chelsea - money talks, you know what walks.

20) Who's going down?
West Ham, Fulham and either us or you...

Thanks for your time Ian.
