Sheffield Wednesday Reaction: Rosler delighted with convincing scoreline

The Latics had already done half the job in the original fixture before torrential rain stopped play with the scoreline at 1-0.

And it was a show of mental strength that Rosler's side dusted themselves down to go again two months later and come away with a result.

Speaking to the club's official website Rosler said:“I wanted another good performance just like we got on Saturday against Huddersfield, and I got that from the players.

“The difference was, of course, goals. The game was 50-50 in the first half, but we used one of our opportunities, a counter attacking move, and took the lead, extending that shortly afterwards.

“That paved the way for us and I thought we were very professional from there onwards, scoring a third goal late on but in truth it could have been more than three.

“Defensively, there was perhaps room for improvement after the first half, but we addressed that at the break and in the second 45 minutes we looked more like a unit at the back, and I never really felt threatened as the game went on that we would concede.

“I think the supporters smelt a win here tonight and I’m delighted we could them that because it’s important that we entertain them and make them proud of their club.”

Next up for the Latics is the trip to Cardiff in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
