"I'm not disappointed with the result because it is not an easy place to come here. After their result [PNE secured in play-offs] they were playing with a lot more freedom, but I was disappointed with our performance! We didn't do anything that we were good at. We never got into a rhythm.

"They started well, it was a high tempo game, the pitch was great, and we just didn't play well, it's as simple as that. They say the sign of a good team is when they get something when they are not playing well, and we've got a point.

"It's still in our hands and that's all we can ask for going into the last game of the season. If we get a win next week, we're up.

"I was very disappointed with the goal we conceded, it was poor marking from our perspective, but Billy [Davies, Preston manager] will probably say the same about their goal.

"Nugent had a chance early on and that put us on the back foot. We didn't pass the ball, we weren't crisp in the tackle, in all departments, we were not very good by our standards. But we kept going and we got a point.

"I'm talking as if we've dropped two points against a side fighting against relegation, but we've gained a point against a very good side. Not many teams get that here. We didn't want to get to the last day of the season relying on Ipswich's results."

"If we win next week, no one can touch us!"

"It was a good point in the end, as it keeps the destiny in our own hands. But we didn't play well today, we didn't perform on the afternoon, and we had to scrap it out. We need to remain positive during the week because we still have Premiership football within our grasp. I don't think you could ask any more than that.

"If we win next week, we are for certain, one hundred percent, in the Premiership next season, and I think that's the kind of pressure the boys will enjoy during the week, but we need to play better than we did today. we simply did not perform, we couldn't put passes together, and we'll just have to roll our sleeves up."

Billy Davies

"We played at a good pace, a good tempo and it's all credit to both sets of players because they showed a lot of determination and worked extremely hard," said Davies after the game.

"I think our preparation this week was good, we know exactly what we had to go and do, we knew the game would be difficult."

"Overall, I'm delighted for everyone connected with the football club, the fans, the players, the staff, the board. For everyone connected with Preston North End I think it's a very proud day to now be in the play-offs and three games to try to get into the Premiership - hopefully!

"We're now prepared for the next match, to try to finish fourth and try to do the job that we've been doing all season because these players deserve absolute wonderful credit.
