Q.P.R. Reaction: Martinez critical over 'worst performance of the season'

The Latics failed to capitalise on Bobby Zamora's 20th minute red card and laboured through a tough day before Loic remy's wonderstrike brought some life out of the Wigan players.

Shaun Maloney's very last gasp equaliser from a delightful 94th minute free kick was not enough to hide the disappointment of Roberto Martinez who described the performance as the worst of the season from his side.

The Spaniard said: “It’s a great point because we were 1-0 down and a late goal like that is a point gained, there’s no two ways about it.

“But overall we were very poor and I think that’s the worst performance we’ve had this season. We were cagey. If anything the sending-off went against us. We are a team that enjoy having the ball and we can open teams up but we made it a hard task.

“The players know that they haven’t done things as well as they should have done but that result is very, very important.

“In football you can win, lose or draw but you have to be yourself and impose yourself but we couldn’t do it.”

Next up for the Latics is the trip to Wembley to face Millwall in the FA Cup Semi Final next Saturday tea time.
