QPR Reaction: Coyle awiting goals

There were some good chances to score with the Latics hitting the wordwork through Chris McCann before McManaman fired the rebound over the bar.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Coyle said: “We’ve got to keep making the chances, keep banging on the door in general and those goals are going to fly in. Someone’s going to be on the end of those.

"I felt sure the script was written when the ball fell to Callum after signing his new deal. But it wasn’t to be."

There was also time for Coyle to respond to Harry Redknapp's assertion that Latics goalkeeper pushed over Andy Johnson in the dying moments of the game.

The journeyman striker was running wide of goal 30 yards out when Nicholls came shoulder to shoulder with the striker who crumnpled into a heap on impact.

"I can understand Harry being annoyed," Coyle added.

"He's probably annoyed because if it's a decision QPR didn't get, it's the first they've not got all night.

"I've seen the incident back and Andy Johnson's a very clever player, a player I've liked for a number of years, but Lee Nicholls has actually shown his maturity because Lee's just stood and Andy being Andy looks for a bit of contact.

"But if you watch that back there's very little in that. The referee managed to get that one right."

Next up for the Latics is the visit of Huddersfield on saturday afternoon to the DW Stadium with tickets priced at £15 for adults.
