Jewell said: "That's as well as we have played for some time. We showed great composure and looked very dangerous on the break. These players deserve enormous credit for how they have come back.

"Nathan [Ellington] was looking a bit jaded and I decided to run with Brett following his good performance at Cardiff. Nathan was disappointed but you have to do what you think is best.

"Brett's [Ormerod] been champing at the bit and he showed why we brought him in. He's exceptional in the air for his size, is very brave and he got his two goals which was pleasing. It was a great leap from Brett for his second [goal], because he isn't the biggest of strikers but it was a wonderful finish and just what we needed.

"We looked dangerous on the break but 1-0 is always a dodgy scoreline and we were delighted to see the second one go in.

"We coped with them exceptionally well, they didn't get around the back of us and we were good I felt. We made the right decisions in the right areas and looked a good unit. The two central defenders were outstanding. They did all the right things and we battled for everything. I was pleased and somewhat relieved when the second goal went in.

"It's now up to us to keep going because there's still a lot of football to be played and a great deal can still happen along the way. We can do no more than win our games and if we do that we'll be okay."
