Jewell speaks after the United win

Jewell told the club's official site: "In the last two or three games we have been too easy to play against and that has meant that a few home truths were told ahead of this game. For the last two or three years we have been very hard to beat and, after losing the last three games, I'm pleased to say that we went back to basics today.

"I thought our work ethic was back to what it should be this afternoon and after the early goal by Lee McCulloch, I thought we controlled the game for long periods. It's vital that we now build on this win and try to go on another run because we have been out of sorts for some time now. Today was a vitally important win for us but it's only three points so we must not get carried away.
"The pleasing thing is that I asked the players to get back into people's faces and pressure the ball and they've done that exceptionally well. There were good performances all over the pitch and I thought we defended well as a team to go together with our progressive attacking play.

"I don't want to be too critical but even after this fine win I think we could have been more decisive as we should really have had the game wrapped up long before the second goal. Our final ball wasn't always the best and we also gave the ball away too easily on occasions. However, today is not a day to criticse too much as we have got back to winning ways - what we must do now is build on this against Wolves and not waste the good work done today.

"There is still an awful long way to go this season and there will be lots more ups and downs yet that's for sure. We're in a good position right now but that means nothing - it's where you are in May that counts and that is what we will all be concentrating on."
