"I thought we played really well in the first half, we were moving the ball

around quickly, and we were closing them down and had one or two half chances. Things are just going against us at the moment, and the time of their equaliser kicked us in the teeth a bit, although it was a really well worked goal. Blackburn came out in the second half full of energy and put us on the back foot and we rode the storm."

On Rovers Winner Jewell told the official site: "I thought it was offside, but it still counts so there is no point ranting and raving about it."

"Blackburn had a game on Thursday and we thought we would catch them a bit cold. I thought we did well in the first half when we tried to stifle Tugay and get Paul Scharner in the box more."

Jewell also refused to blame Todorovs penalty miss: "After the penalty incident you had to wonder if it was going to be our day. I won't blame people for missing penalties because there won't be anyone more disappointed than Toddy. Their keeper also saved two rebounds, and if it had gone in, I think we would have gone on to win the game. But it was saved, and it gave their crowd and their players a lift."

Mark Hughes

"Jason came in and did exceptionally well. It was a great debut. It is important when you get the opportunity you try to take it and Jason did exceptionally well in that respect."

"I always knew Jason had potential and it was a big decision when he came here because he could have gone as a first-choice keeper at a lower level.

"But he has got great confidence in his own ability and he feels he can make it at the very top level - and you would not argue with that on today's performance."
