"I quite enjoyed that! We looked more like our old selves tonight, and they've scored from two set plays and a wonder goal, but I thought we played well, I was really pleased for the lads.

"We're disappointed to have conceded from set pieces, especially when it has happened twice. I thought it was a cracking game of football as both sides were going for it, but I thought we were the better of them.

"Jason [Roberts] scored two great goals, but I also thought Andreas Johansson did well tonight, he was a constant threat. Three goals from two of our strikers is a good return. We only practice penalties after training, but we didn't expect to be involved in a shoot-out tonight."

"I just thought the players were magnificent. "We had a couple of niggles before we started, but the boys were magnificent from start to finish. To come back three times shows the never-say-die attitude.

"Penalty shoot-outs are a fact of life - that’s why the FA Cup is such a great competition. There were so many twists and turns and when you see our penalty takers looking confident you wonder if there’s another twist.

"But they are honest lads here and people have to take their hats off to them. Last night was a great cup tie and people all around the world will have been watching the game, gripped to their seats.

"You have to say that Sky picked a cracking cup tie, it was spot on. We took Wigan all the way. It was an absolute cracker. Wigan had to counter wave after wave of attack and credit must got to our players.

The only downside is the cruel way it turned out, but I think people can see what’s happening here now and I think there are some exciting times ahead. I’m just disappointed we couldn’t buy all those Leeds fans that watched at Elland Road and around the world a celebratory beer at the end."
