Ipswich Reaction: Latics through to fourth round

Here is the reaction of the two managers.

Steve Bruce

I think that is the difference between the Premier League and the Championship. When you create that many chances and you don't take them, you're going to get punished.

Ipswich caused us more problems than anyone else has. We ran out easy winners in the end, but it was tough in the first half because Ipswich did very well.

I know Titus [Bramble] was here from eight years old. It was fantastic for him to come back. He has his critics. The one thing about him is he is made of stern stuff.

For me, he was the outstanding player. I know for a fact he was looking forward to coming down here. The one thing I have got here is people who don't want to be beaten.

I was never blessed with any ability but what I demand is you work hard.

Jim Magilton

We started really well and created some good chances against a Premier League outfit. We didn't take them and we were wary that they would come back to haunt us which they did. We paid the price.

We did very well first half, but our defending at set plays was really inept and you can't afford to do that against players of Premier League quality like Wigan have.

Wigan didn't have to work very hard for there goals which disappointed us. We didn't challenge for the first or second ball.

Wigan have serious aspirations of going a long way in this competition whereas right now we are looking at something else.

Next Game

Next for the Latics is the tricky visit of new billionaires Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. If last night's results are anything to go by, the game should be a breeze (City lost on penalties to Brighton).
