"There were some opportunities for some of the players who haven't been playing to show us what they can do, some took the opportunity and some didn't. There were one or two players who needed a game and I think it showed tonight.

"We both had chances but they took theirs and we didn't, but it was disappointing not to go through to the next round. All credit to Hull, they put us under pressure and they are through to the next stage.

"We treated the game as we would do as if it was a Premiership game, we gave them the respect they deserved, and we had chances but it just wasn't to be."

"When it comes down to the last 10 minutes and you are leading 1-0 you have to show bottle to get over the finishing line and I felt we did that. Wigan threw everything they had at us and we managed to stand up to it.

"That was epitomised late on when Michael Turner threw himself in front of a shot. That typified our attitude towards the game."
