Fulham Reaction: Martinez delighted with Diame

Last updated : 09 November 2009 By Paul Farrington
The gradually came into the game and grabbed an equalizer to Emmerson Boyce's opener as Clint Dempsey scored from the spot.

Whilst the result may be considered two points dropped, Martinez's men are now starting to look like a decent side who could beat anyone on their day. Just a little fine tuning and it could be a good season.

Here is the reaction of the two managers.

Roberto Martinez

I was very, very pleased with the performance. We all know Fulham are a very strong side, they've been working together for a very long time and Roy Hodgson has got a very disciplined and well organised side and they can really frustrate you and hurt you.

I felt the performance and the intensity and the attitude of the players was very, very good. To be able to create the amount of chances that we had and to have a display like Mark Schwarzer's today, I feel the difference between having one point and three points was his performance.

That's very, very, positive. It's something that will allow us to carry on improving and carry on working. When you get a display like Mark today that's something that we need to take as a great positive of our performance.

It's a great compliment for the way we played. We all know Fulham defensively are well organised and have that 'never give up' attitude. You look at their last two results in the league, against Liverpool and Man City, coming back from two-nil down, it shows you the resilience of the team.

Roy Hodgson

Im very pleased with a point especially considering the week we've had. First we had the excitement and pressure of the Liverpool game, then we went to Rome and we've had another long trip here [Wigan] to play another good team.

The team has shown a lot of character and determination and I've got to be really happy with a point as would any team that come here because Wigan are a hard team to play against.

I've been treated magnificantly by the Fulham fans and everyone at the Club and coming up to two years it's been a wonderful time. I like the Club and the fans very much and we have done well.

The team's come a long way over the past two years and we've got a long way to go.The thing about playing at this high level of football, you are constantly running to stand still. The moment you relax and take your foot off the pedal it's amazing how quickly teams fly past you. There will be no complacency on our part and today's game is a good example of that.

Last week Liverpool was a tough game and today Wigan was a tough game - that's the way this League is.
