"It was a dreadful game, and the only good thing to come out of it was a clean sheet and a point. I feel sorry for the supporters who had to pay to watch that, although they did generate an atmosphere.

"We started it quite well though, and we were the better team. I remember the Arsenal and Chelsea games and saying how well we played, and we got nothing from them. We have not played anywhere near that standard today, but we got a point.

"It was a gritty and a scrappy game, and the pitch was bumpy. The game today was just rubbish. When a game is as bad as that, you just want to get something out of it.

"We were stretched at times but I don't think either goalkeeper had a save to make, and there wasn't enough quality in the final third. At first it looked like we were both a bit nervy because of what was at stake.

"Even though we had three players missing through suspensions I think Unsworth and Kilbane linked up really well on the left. Now I have just got to keep my fingers crossed whilst all the players go away on international duty and hope they come back unscathed.

"I'm not pleased with the way we played but I am pleased with another point towards safety. If we play eight more awful games like that and get eight more points, then we should be alright."

And PJ also gave the latest news on Caleb Folan's ankle injury, although there was no indication of the time period he will be out for. Jewell added: "Caleb has done his ankle in and we do not know what the extent of the damage is, but that shows you the ups and downs of football. He scored the winner at Manchester City two weeks ago, got picked for Ireland, and now he's injured. He has gone for an x-ray so we will have to wait and see the extent of the damage."

"It wasn't a great game but when two teams are in the positions we are and it is the twitchy time of the season, the rewards for staying in this league are massive. We had a bit of a gap between ourselves and the bottom three and while we are not quite home yet we are within touching distance.

"Everyone gets very nervous at the business end of the season and we will be nervous until we get that next win which I think will really secure it for us. We came away from home in not great conditions and players will make mistakes if they are not mentally tough.

"Offensively we were poor but it was our first clean sheet since Christmas so we have got to be happy with that."
