Chelsea Reaction: Another defeat

The chance of an away result is ever increasingly unlikely and the torturous ticket price and travel costs porve too much of a barrier for most.

Such away day weekend's or ruled off the calendar for Latics supporters who merely fail to acknowledge that theirteam is playing.

It was much the same on the field as Match of the Day makes for grim viewing.

The Frank Lampard love in continued and Roberto Martinez was left clutching at straws when asked to comment on a game that took his sides run to one win in fourteen games in Premier League.

Martinez said: "We need to be perfect, we need to be as good as we can. It's a real concern. We haven't got the points we wanted to have at this stage.

"We're not looking at the table, we're looking at the points tally that we want to get at the end of the season. As a football club, we know where we are. We know what we have to do.

"We're looking forward to facing the challenge head on. We've got a really exciting time ahead of us.

"We're going into the last third of the competition, which is where everything happens."

Next up for the Latics is break from the relegation battle of the league and instead an away day trip to either Huddersfield or Leicester in the FA Cup.
