Charlton Reaction: Luzon pleased with organised Addicks

The result helped the Addicks further away from the relegation zone whilst leaving the Latics firmily rooted in the bottom three.

“To come here after the 3-0 (against Brentford) and after Wigan had won in the middle of the week, we knew they’re a very good team,” explained Luzon.

“They’re fighting to close the six points they need to stay in the league so we knew it would not be an easy game.

“We came here and worked fantastically with our organisation in defence. Our goalkeeper didn’t touch the ball all game.

“We scored three goals and we had another two or three chances to score so we’re delighted, but we need to continue.

“The pitch was very bad to play football on,” he continued.

“Our target was to come here and to play football; to play the ball on the ground like we did against Brentford.

“A good team knows how to win here. They know how to win on a good pitch and on a bad pitch so I’m happy that they did.

“It’s our target to keep a clean sheet because we know when we organise and we close the middle, we know we have the quality to score every game.

“The connection between defence and attack - when you have a good defence, you’ll also have a situation to score in attack.”

Frederic Bulot, Igor Vetokele and debutant Chris Eagles were all on target for Charlton who comfortably defeated the Latics.
