The Clarets have had an excellent first half of the season and sat proudly in second place in the table before the game.

The 0-0 scoreline was the second no score draw at the DW Stadium in as many games and the Burnley manager was complimentary of the home side.

Speaking after the game Dyche said: "Overall I think it was a fantastic point - and the reason for that is it was the toughest game on the fixture list today.

"They've got a new manager, arguably one of the best and deepest squads in the division, and we had to tactically perform very well.

"The only question was breaking from ur tactical shape and trying to hurt the opposition."

As a result of the draw Dyche's side dropped down to third in the table as Derby, who face the Latics on New Year's Day, moved up to second.

"The only team who are winning every single week at the moment is Derby," added Dyche. "With all due respect, it'l be interesting to see what happens when they play the teams at the top of the table.

"During their good run they'veonly played one team in the top half. That's no disrespect to anyone, just the reality of the situation."
