Jewell: More goals needed

"That's the fourth time where we have thrown a lead away, and we don't seem to have that killer instinct that you need to win games. We have had chances to push on but we don't take them.

"The last time we scored two goals was against Tottenham, so it is a failing of the team. One area where we must get better is the amount of goals we score, and that's from the whole team.

"We have to score more goals from open play, I think we have scored 38 goals and that is the lowest in the top half, so we need to improve on that next year.

"I thought the goal was a bad one defensively, we should have dealt with the cross, we shouldn't have allowed Heskey to get his head up and cross it in so easily. It was a basic error and we got punished.

"I thought our defence against Blackburn in the second half were excellent, but today we were a little bit shaky."

Steve Bruce

"We are a bit disappointed because I thought they were there for the taking. We had enough chances to have nicked it, but a point away from home is a good result by anyone's standard and with five games left it's given us a real chance.

"It's been a huge past seven days. After what happened against Liverpool and Manchester United they've rolled their sleeves up and got some pride back."
