The Latics will now face Macclesfield Town in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup with the game to be played at the Moss Rose on 26th January 2012.

Speaking about his sides win over a difficult Bournemouth team, Roberto Martinez said: “We know that Bournemouth have been unbeaten and it doesn’t matter at what level you do that at because you have got a very strong unit.

“I must admit Bournemouth deserve huge, huge credit over the two games in the manner they play football.

“We knew that we had to be very professional; really, really strong and I couldn’t be more proud of my players. When you make nine changes it is not easy.”

The result gives the Latics a real chance to reach the fifth round and build up some momentum with a cup run.

However Martinez will stick with his youthful side for the cup competitions as he looks to develop players ready for the first team.

“No, it is not a risk, a risk would be not to give the opportunity to youngsters," addedMartinez.

“The future of our football club relies on having a strong development path for our youngsters.”
