Bournemouth cruised to the 2-0 home victory against a Wigan Athletic team who have made a below par start to the campaign.

The importance of the win was not lost on Howe who was pleased with the performance that his side displayed.

“We need to win in front of our fans because there is pressure on us to perform here," Howe told the Bournemouth official website.

“We took the lead and then you think back to the games and points we haven’t taken from leading positions.

“But we got the second and looked pretty comfortable from then on. I also thought the lads worked incredibly hard.

“Wigan are a very good side and to beat them at home is a big achievement.”

The win leaves the Cherries in mid-table after an inconsistent run of results.
