Bolton Reaction: Bruce not happy with errors

Here is the reaction of the two managers.

Steve Bruce

We cannot play in this league and make individual errors like we are making there, you have to give yourself a chance. We made an unbelievable one last week [against Manchester City] and we have done the same here today.

We have to eradicate making individual errors and defend better as a team. As a manager the one thing you cannot do is account for individual error. We all make mistakes, but unfortunately the ones we are currently making cost too much.

I think the big turning point of the game was when we were in their half for twenty minutes in the second half and there were six or seven corners on the trot, and we needed to score then. But we didn't and then they broke up the other end of the pitch and we did not pick up at a set piece and we got punished.

We should not rely on other teams' results, we need to get our own points. You can rely on them every now and again, but the simple fact is we have not got enough points on the board, and the table doesn't lie. We've only took one point from the last ten which is alarming, and if we are to stay in this league then we need to change it very, very quickly.

I knew that it would be very difficult here, but it is a challenge and I am determined to put it right. Usually when a manager gets a new job when things are tough. We will all have to stick together and try to get through it.

Gary Megson (Speaking about Kevin Nolan)

Since I have been here, Kevin has been an absolute credit. He sets the standard on the pitch. He is a leader in every sense of the word. It is not just his goals, it is his work-rate. He is always one of the top three workers in terms of effort. The more of those you can have at a football club, the better you will be.

You want players to play with freedom but we are where we are. At one stage we were rock bottom. Now we are a few places higher but we are still not that far off being rock bottom.
