Oriol Reira's first half goal was enough for the Latics who beat Jose Riga's side by a slim 1-0 margin.

Speaking after the game to the Wigan Athletic official website, Rosler said: “It should have been more, I think the first-half was the best first-half since I’ve been at the club.

“Our play from number one to number 11 was phenomenal, we should have been up by four or five goals. I was very impressed, especially coming from a tough game against Cardiff where we put a lot of effort in.

“Our progression continues, we would have liked more goals to be safe a bit earlier but in the end we got three points and the boys all turned the corner – the performance level went a big way up and today we also got the three points.”

Next up for the Latics is the visit of Birmingham City on Saturday as Rosler's side will be looking for back-to-back wins to kick start the season.

“Birmingham have had a good start to the season, we played them at the end of last season in a very decisive game and the next game will be too but this time we have a week to breathe through and, because we put a lot of effort in to turn the corner, I’ll reward my players with an extra day off," added Rosler.
