McCulloch speaks about his cacking start to the season

McCulloch - Two goals in as many games
"I know that if my forms dips then 'Mahony' is going to come in, he's a quality player. It's my job to remain on my toes and keep performing and hopefully continue to get amongst the goals. I've started well but it's a long season and a lot can happen between now and May. We have to be happy with our start, though it is disappointing not to have six points out of six because we really should have beaten Forest on Saturday.

"However, to win here is a great result for us, and while the first-half was a bit scrappy, we passed the ball better in the second and were the better team. The manager told us a few home truths at half-time and we responded well. I think he felt we lacked belief in the final third and we certainly could have been more decisive in front of goal. We improved after the break though and the 2-0 win was no more than we deserved in my opinion.

"My goal was a fairly simple one really and to be honest the cross made it for me. David Wright put a great ball in, it bounced and skidded off the surface, and I just got my head on it - I was pleased to see it go in. I took a gamble like the manager asks me to and fortunately it worked out in my favour. I've never really been what you would call prolific, so to get two goals in two games is a great feeling for me. Hopefully I can build on that into the rest of the season.

"We now travel to West Ham on Sunday for what will be a really tough game, there's no doubt about that. We'll have to improve on our performance there last year and, having been sent off at Upton Park in that game, I'll be looking to put things right too. It's a great place to play with a fantastic atmosphere and we go there in good spirits now.

"If we perform well we have it in ourselves to go there and get a result but we know that will only happen if we work hard and play to the best of our ability. West Ham will be right up there come the end of the season because they have a very good squad and excellent support too. That's why we know it will be a tough match, but hopefully we can go and perform well, and if we do, there's a good chance we can come home with a positive result"
